Chambers County Court Record Requests
Start with the county Records Search page. You can look up a case by cause number, party, or date. Read the events before you pay for any filing. Images in the Portal cost ten cents per page. If something is missing, contact the responsible clerk directly rather than blasting a broad request at the wrong office.
- Identify the court, case type, and cause number.
- Search the Portal index and note the exact document label and date.
- Use a District Clerk public terminal or the correct clerk counter if needed.
- Call, email, mail, or fax the holding clerk with a specific request.
- State whether a plain or certified copy is required.
- Confirm the price, payment method, delivery, and proof of role.
Call the District Clerk at 409-267-2432 for the main desk. Criminal and appeals questions go to 409-267-2444, while civil and family matters use 409-267-2674. The County Clerk answers at 409-267-2418, and both offices accept mail and fax. General county information belongs with the Public Information Office. But case records should go to the clerk first.
Chambers County Split Clerk Desks
Chambers County splits its clerks' work. The District Clerk holds pleadings and papers for the 253rd and 344th District Courts and the courts it serves, including district civil, family, felony, appeals, and County Court at Law records named on its page. The County Clerk handles county-level civil, criminal, juvenile, and probate functions. Each JP and municipal clerk keeps its own lower-court files separately.
| Record context | Likely custodian |
|---|---|
| District civil, family, felony, appeal | Chambers County District Clerk |
| County civil, criminal, juvenile, probate | Chambers County Clerk |
| Small claim, eviction, JP traffic | Issuing Justice Court clerk |
| City ordinance or Class C case | Issuing municipal clerk |
The case style and court name usually tell you which desk to use. If they do not, ask either county clerk to route your inquiry before you pay a search fee.
Kinds of Chambers County Court Records
Know the difference between three products. A docket or event index lists what was filed, ordered, set, or decided. A filed image is the real document. Think of a petition, motion, indictment, return, judgment, or order. A certified copy is a reproduction the clerk authenticates with a certificate and seal.
Transcripts are something else entirely. A court reporter prepares them from spoken proceedings. The County Court at Law and 344th District Court require a written request listing the case style, cause number, hearing date, requested portions, and exhibits. A deposit of half the estimated transcript cost is also required. Keep in mind the clerk cannot turn an event line into a reporter's transcript.
Paperless Chambers County Records Offices
The District Clerk page states that paper case files are no longer available for viewing. The reason is that the office runs paperless. Public terminals sit at 2128 SH 61 in Anahuac and 10616 Eagle Drive in Mont Belvieu. The electronic file can be the official record. So a missing paper file does not mean the record was lost. The official notice appears on that page.

For older causes or items missing from the online index, describe the cause, court, date range, and document type to the clerk. The published District Clerk search fee may apply.
Chambers County Court Records: What They Contain
A full case file often holds far more than the free search row shows. Exact contents vary with case type and access limits. Event labels point you to the right image, while the signed paper carries the court's full wording.
| Case header | Cause number, court, filed date, case type, style, and status. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff, petitioner, defendant, respondent, the State, and attorneys of record. |
| Filings | Petitions, charges, motions, notices, returns, responses, and exhibits when available. |
| Settings and orders | Hearing notices, resets, rulings, judgments, dismissals, and disposition entries. |
| Appeal events | Notice of appeal, clerk and reporter records, certification, and mandate. |
Financial data such as fines, costs, or balances can appear. The county does not promise every field shows in each public view, and public identifiers may be redacted from Chambers County court records.
Chambers County Copy Request Fields
Chambers County offers no countywide certified-copy web form. A focused written request works instead. Give your contact details, the cause number, the court, the exact document, the filing or hearing date, and whether you need a plain or certified copy. Ask about payment and delivery before you mail any funds.
| Request item | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Cause or record number | Primary retrieval key. |
| Court | Routes the request to the right custodian. |
| Document and date | Prevents an overly broad copy order. |
| Plain or certified | Determines authentication and fees. |
| Delivery and payment | Must be confirmed with the holding clerk. |
Party or attorney access may require role proof. The Portal's public notice does not list every acceptable document.
Copy Fees and Certification
The District Clerk's official 2025 schedule sets prices by how a copy is made and whether it gets a seal. Do not apply those prices to a JP or municipal clerk. Confirm the current total before ordering.
| District Clerk service | Published amount | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Electronic copy | $0.10 per page | $1 minimum through ten pages |
| Paper copy | $1 per page | Also applies to electronic delivery converted to paper |
| Certificate and seal | $5 | Added for a certified copy |
| Record search | $5 | Published clerk search fee |
| Clerk's appeal record | $1 per page | Preparation for an appeal |
The County Clerk's 2024 schedule lists a one-dollar ordinary copy and a five-dollar certification fee. Confirm the amounts for the court record you want.
Chambers County Payment and Copy Routes
The county payment page separates county and district payments, justice-court payments, and document copies.

That separation keeps you from paying the wrong office. Payment access is not the same as a full docket search or a certified-copy request. The County Clerk fees and forms page also presents clerk forms and fee material.

Its redaction request form serves a different need than ordering a case judgment or docket sheet.
Chambers County Written Information Route
The Public Information Office takes a specific written description by mail, fax, or in person. Mail goes to PO Box 1200, Attn. Chambers County Attorney, Anahuac, TX 77514. The phone is 409-267-2411 and the fax is 409-267-8296.

Texas treats ordinary county information differently from adjudicative case records. The Texas Public Information Act covers the first kind, not both. Ask the court clerk for the case file first, and use the county information route only when your request fits it.
Access Rules for Chambers County Court Records
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 governs many judicial records. Clerk-held adjudicative files also answer to court rules, statute, and common law. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 covers ordinary public information. But it offers no substitute appeal route for every court-case request. Civil records may be sealed under Rule 76a. And Family Code Chapter 58 protects juvenile justice files.
Restricted material: A public index may omit or limit juvenile, sealed, expunged, protective-order, family, and confidential identifying information.
Rule out the simple problems first. A wrong clerk, a stale index, or a typo in a docket search explains many dead ends. Once those are cleared, the real questions start. What redacted access does the court allow? What proof of role must you show? For its part, the Chambers County Clerk offers a personal-information redaction form. Sealing and expunction each demand their own legal process.

Chambers County Exhibits and Older Files
Exhibits live in more than one place. They may sit in the electronic court file. They might be with the reporter's record. Some sit behind a restriction. When you ask for one, give the cause number and the hearing date. Include the exhibit's number or description, plus the format you want. County Court at Law requires trial exhibits seven days before trial, and audio or video goes to the reporter on USB. That filing rule does not put every exhibit online for public view.
For an older cause, ask the holding clerk directly. Ask whether the five-dollar search fee applies. The paperless notice confirms the Portal, courthouse terminals, and direct requests as paths to court records. It promises no download for each historic item.
Chambers County Certified Judgments
Need something official? Order the exact signed judgment rather than a picture of a docket entry. When you contact the clerk, give the case style, cause number, court, document date, and any requirement the requester has stated. Also ask whether a plain copy will do or a certified copy is required. The certificate and seal runs five dollars, separate from the per-page charges.
Appeals work differently. The clerk's appeal record is billed at one dollar per page, while the court reporter sets the price of a transcript and may ask for a deposit of half the estimate. Identify your Chambers County case clearly up front, since that prevents delays and paying for the wrong product.
